Premier Music School in Mississauga East
Ontario Conservatory of Music established the Dixie Studio in 1990, located in South East Mississauga. We opened our doors on the second floor of the Dunwynn Centre in the Dixie and Dundas area. In order to serve our growing student body at the Dixie location, we are in the process of relocating from our current second-floor space in the Dunwyn Centre to a more convenient main floor location. Our dedicated teachers have taught countless students here, and we continue to offer fun and exciting music programs to families in the community.
For over 86 years, OCOM has been a pillar of music education, setting a high standard for teaching and learning music across Ontario.
If you are a long time resident in Mississauga East, and you studied music as a child, chances are you studied with us.
What Can You Expect With A High-Quality Program With Our School?
While many schools and retail stores offering lessons use independent contractors, our staff are employees, not independent contractors!
All teaching staff are employees of the Conservatory. Our teachers require a university degree in music education and are required to teach all levels of Theory while following and delivering the Royal Conservatory Program Syllabus. As employees our teachers are trained to specifically deliver the program you expect from Ontario Conservatory while developing a relationship with your child that will keep them engaged.
There are many teachers that have attempted to join our team but through our evaluation have learned that in many cases there was no formal training for the applicant. It is very important when choosing a school to know who you are entrusting with your family’s musical education!
The Royal Conservatory Program Syllabus
When you learn with us, expect to get high-quality education from the best music school in Mississauga. One of the top benefits is that you are taught our certified syllabus while being prepared for annual examinations.
When our students reach grade five, which is the beginning of the RCM syllabus, our students are developed and prepare for the annual RCM exam.
By receiving this high-quality program with our school your child can obtain two high school credits, which is RCM piano level seven, and eight while also completing levels nine, and ten which would qualify your child to one day teach students of their own!
While we are proud to teach many of the highest achieving students throughout the Peel Region we also prepare level students aspiring for the university level.
