History

Ontario Conservatory of Music roots go all the way back to 1936 when we started the South Sea College of Music. Due to the immediate growth we experienced we changed the name to Ontario Conservatory of Music and in 1945 expanded throughout Ontario

Eventually reaching 119 locations and 32 000 students! Throughout our 80 plus year history, we have been the leader in the promotion of music programs and progressive teaching systems.

Through the years many talented musicians including Professor Zankov, George (Dixie) Dean (world renowned accordionist), Gavin Morton (popular band leader), and many others were enlisted as staff members, to assist in developing teaching programs which resulted in a major increase in the popularity of the organization.

These additions enhanced our reputation as a leading musical education facility. Ontario Conservatory of Music began what has now become the largest successful network of Music Studio Operating Franchisees in North America!

In 2008, Ontario Conservatory of Music moved the head office into the GTA allowing the new expansion plan to take root. In a short period of time the head office located in Galt, Ontario was moved to our new head quarters in Mississauga.

Since moving our operations into the GTA we are thankful to be well into our 8th decade of successful operation. The Ontario Conservatory of Music has become the largest, most successful music education organization in Canada, with locations throughout Ontario.

The Ontario Conservatory of Music continues to provide leadership in the development of group music programs and expansion in the music industry. With the help of countless dedicated staff we developed into an organization comprised of 10 000 steel guitar & 25 000 accordion students to a diverse music conservatory covering much of South Western Ontario and international partners in the US, UK, Quebec and provinces in Canada!

We are extremely fortunate to have impacted through our teaching methods millions of fantastic Canadians, just like you!

We will continue our current focus well into the future.
